There are also different materials that frames are made out of. The most popular ones are wood, metal, and plastic. Each frame will have a different effect on the picture. For example, the only time you want to use a wooden frame is if you’ve got a picture that will go with it. If you’ve got a picture of a family member or friend out in the country, the wooden frame can add character to it, because it gives the feel of a wooden fence around the picture itself. Metal frames can make nice pictures look even better, and add to the elegance. There’s something about the shine of the frame that adds to the picture. Plastic frames more or less take away from the picture. You want to make sure before buying a plastic frame that the picture inside it will attract the attention away from the frame. Plastic looks very cheap, and is basically just an easy solution for protection of the picture.

If you want something else that you can’t find, you can get a custom made frame. The price depends on the intricacy of the design that will go on the frame. Custom framers can do many things with the frame. First, they let you pick out the frame you want. Then, they can give you some ideas and examples for designs to be put on the frame. Or, if you know what you would like put on the frame, as long as its something simple, you can just tell them. This could be a name of a spouse or a loved one, or something goofy for a funny picture. However, if the design is more complicated, it’s a good idea to at least go into the framing company with a rough sketch of the design, so you can make sure that you get exactly what you want for the money you’re paying.
